Each November, the RISE team shares the resources they are most thankful for. In collecting these, team member Jennifer Rabas is sharing her list of podcast recommendations:
The Daily: This podcast from the New York Times is a Monday-Friday never miss for me. I stumbled upon this in March and found their coverage of COVID-19 to be the only one I wanted to hear. They cover news and current events. I also really like Michael Babaro's voice and his odd pauses.
What a Day: What's Up WAD Squad?! This daily podcast from Crooked Media is the second podcast I listen to Monday-Friday. It focuses on news as well.
Incredible Feats with Dan Cummins: Another daily Mon-Friday but very short. Talks about really cool feats people have accomplished.
Crime Junkie: This is in my opinion the best true crime podcast out there. In fact I joined their fan club because I wanted additional monthly content.
Supernatural with Ashley Flowers: If you like stories of the supernatural I think this is a great weekly podcast. I also love Ashley Flowers voice.
Cults: Usually told in 2 or more parts this podcast covers the stories of different Cults, also a fascination of mine, so I was intrigued. The two narrators are very good. Weekly.
Bear Brook: A friend told me to check this one out if I like true crime. It was a limited series and was excellent. Great binge and changed how cases are solved by using genealogy.
Crime Countdown: Newer weekly podcast and I enjoy the humor and banter. These two have another podcast called Morbid which is good as well but I really like the countdown format this takes.
All-American: Tiger Woods: I heard an ad for this one and thought that even though I didn't love golf, I like sports and I don't know a ton about Tiger. It was a limited series and just wrapped up. I enjoyed it and think they will cover others.
Crimes of Passion: Weekly and usually in two parts. I binged all the old episodes while taking long walks. Very good.
Medical Murders: A newer weekly and usually told in two parts this podcast looks at medical professionals who have abused their powers.
A Muddled Narrative: A Wisconsin-based podcast that explores the grim. I've learned so much from this podcast and I've even sent them 3 stories. I look forward to this one every Tuesday.
Full Release with Samantha Bee: I love Sam Bee and when I saw that she was starting a podcast, I jumped right in. It's pretty good. She interviews guests every Tuesday and it's been a mixed bag but I've enjoyed most.
Nice White Parents: Limited Series and very good. Highly recommended.
Full Body Chills: Two seasons of scary stories ready and waiting for you here!
Very Presidential with Ashley Flowers: Special pre-election pod covering the secret lives of former presidents. Super interesting.
